analogZONE Says . . .
Since I missed the introduction of their original A100 device I thought that the addition of the A70, A80, and A90 to the original Atlanta family of VoIP/CPE devices would be a good opportunity to review the product line's overall architecture and see how it fits into the fast-growing VoIP market.
As the release above suggests the Atlanta chips target CPE or networked appliances that need voice capability. This includes games, cordless IP phones, set top boxes, and telephony-enabled routers. While Centillium was mum about details about which of Netgear's boxes they'll appear in, it's apparent that the Atlanta will displace one of the "big 4" chip makers . Sadly, I've been too busy keeping track of the chips themselves recently to keep track of who owns Netgear's sockets so any juicy details from a kind reader would be appreciated.
