CENTILLIUM COMMUNICATIONS WINS PRESTIGIOUS INFOVISION AWARD FOR ENTROPIA™ CHIP Centillium Recognized by the International Engineering Consortium for Outstanding Achievement FREMONT, Calif.,
October 9, 2001 - Centillium Communications, Inc. [Nasdaq: CTLM], innovator of broadband communications technology, today announced that the International Engineering Consortium (IEC) has selected the company for the prestigious InfoVision Award for superior technical achievement and innovation. The IEC is granting this award to Centillium because of its innovative Entropia chip for next generation Voice over Packet (VoP) applications.

IEC presents InfoVision Awards annually to technology companies, recognizing products based on their level of technical advancement, industry impact in their perspective sectors, and ease of adoption in the end-market. The awards, which were established in 1998, have been used as a call to the technology community to strive for innovation and excellence in developing new products for the communications market.

About the Entropia Chip The highly integrated Entropia chip combines hardware, firmware and feature-rich software to deliver a complete high density, low power packet voice capability in a single small form-factor device. The Entropia chip includes a Digital Signal Processor (DSP) and software for voice processing, which includes compression, echo cancellation, tone detection and generation, announcements, fax/modem data detection and signaling support. The network processor, which is also integrated on the chip, includes AAL1, AAL2, AAL5 and IP processing. The chip comes with a very advanced system level host Application Programming Interface (API) software in C code and handles many compression algorithms, including G.711, G.726, G.728 and G.729A/B.
