SUNRISE TELECOM AND CENTILLIUM COMMUNICATIONS JOIN TO DEVELOP HANDHELD ADSL TERMINALS FOR SUNSET™ XDSL
Sunrise Telecom Delivers Full-Rate and G.lite ADSL Testing Solution Based on Centillium Chipset
FREMONT, Calif.,
July 12, 2000 - Sunrise Telecom and Centillium Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTLM), innovator of broadband communications technology, today announced a strategic alliance to develop an Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) handheld terminal for Sunrise Telecom's SunSet xDSL tester by utilizing Centillium's CopperFlite™ Utopia Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) chipset. This module will enable installers to pre-qualify their ADSL system as compatible with full rate and G.lite ADSL standards, including annex A and C. The annex A standard is utilized in most regions of the world where service providers are deploying G.lite ADSL, while annex C is primarily utilized in Japan.
Sunrise Telecom's ADSL module will be able to synchronize with an ADSL Central Office (CO) line cards compatible with Centillium's CopperFlite Utopia. This ADSL module will give ADSL installers all of the measurements needed for a successful turn-up, including the rate and noise margin for both upstream and downstream. This testing solution, targeted for both Japan and rest of world markets, is in full compliance with ADSL standards, including ANSI T1.413, G.992.1 full-rate and G.992.2. Various protocols for IP Packet Internet Groper (PING) will be supported to enable verification of connectivity to the far end of the network.
SunSet xDSL Solution
The SunSet xDSL family of test equipment can help service providers ensure timely delivery of DSL service. All platforms are inherently modular, supporting a variety of plug-in modules that address a number of different transmissions, such as ADSL, IDSL, SDSL, HDSL, and voice frequency. This ADSL module will be the latest addition to the SunSet xDSL product line. With future offerings in development, the SunSet xDSL family can be adapted to a service provider's evolving network.
