CENTILLIUM COMMUNICATIONS APPOINTS BROADBAND ACCESS VETERAN TO EXECUTIVE TEAM Company Names Tony Shakib Vice President, General Manager of Access and Networking Business Units FREMONT, Calif.,
April 16, 2003 - Centillium Communications (Nasdaq: CTLM), innovator of broadband access technology today announced the appointment of Tony Shakib to the position of Vice President and General Manager of Access and Networking Business Units. Shakib brings to Centillium more than 18 years of operations and management experience leading innovative and technical organizations. Shakib’s proven motivational, strategic and leadership strengths make him a key member of Centillium’s executive team. “Centillium is at an exciting time as the company continues its leadership in the rapidly growing broadband market,” said Faraj Aalaei, CEO of Centillium. “Tony brings to Centillium the optimal combination of operational leadership and engineering expertise that will help us to capitalize on our strategic position as a leading provider of DSL chipset solutions worldwide. We are pleased to welcome him on board.” Prior to joining Centillium, Shakib was President & CEO of AOptix Technologies, where he managed the development of an all-optical Free Space Optical communications system. Before AOptix, Shakib spent sixteen years with Nortel Networks, most recently as Vice President and General Manager of Nortel Networks’s Broadband Access Unit.
